A brief explanation of $DUA use cases inside the app. How to get started? How to be an early adopter? How to earn $DUA?

In our recent update, we announced the development of the dua Wallet, a self-custodial and user-owned wallet that shall open the gate to millions of users to crypto services and deals directly from the dua.com app. Our vision is to make crypto accessible not because it’s crypto but because its outputs provide real value for our ethnic communities.

Current Mass Adoption Level = Low

The barrier to entry in crypto today is different from where it is supposed to be. And we should not be pleased with what we have achieved until now. We are far from mass adoption. Adoption means the underlying protocol, blockchain, or token doesn't mean anything to the users. Why should they even care? Do we care about the underlying technology of Meta, Instagram or Twitter? While some people do because of their passion for technology, the masses couldn't care less. People not caring about the tech doesn't mean builders should not strive for decentralization, security, and user ownership. Increasing adoption requires a balance between what crypto stands for and the practical needs of people in general.

dua.com & $DUA

Since our inception in 2020, our ultimate vision has been to provide a place where ethnic communities can create meaningful relationships in three different areas of life.

dua.com = dualove + duabiz + duafriends
  • Love: Meet people who make you feel at home, share your values & speak your language.
  • Biz: Find business and career opportunities within your specific ethnic community according to your needs at your life stage.
  • Friends: Meet new people and make new friends in your area. Look and book new events and conferences. Hear what your friends have to say about you.

By creating three app modes for different user needs, we give life to a long list of use cases for $DUA. Suddenly the token becomes an essential part of the app mechanics that soon will get translated into practical adoption of the dua Wallet and DUA token. Let’s get started.

dua Love

Launched in 2020, the first app mode of dua.com has been very successful in user acquisition, revenue generated and ultimately in providing real value for the people who have used and still use it. dua Love is not the typical date app you are used to seeing in the market. We celebrate the union of men and women. We celebrate family and family values. Dating should be more than just a hookup and we make sure to focus our features on that mission.

dua Love has a set of features that allows the creation and verification of user profiles. This mode allows users to get onboarded into their ethnic community. So for example: Ali lives in London but is originally from Morocco. He desires to meet new people from the Moroccan community who share his values. During the onboarding process, he selects Morroco and joins his ethnic community. A community of people spread worldwide and living in the Diaspora and back home but brought together by dua.

As soon as he is verified, he can activate his dua wallet. This way he gets introduced to the concept of on-chain identity. Now he has a centralized identity linked to the app and a decentralized identity with attributes from both worlds. Identity is strongly linked to reputation.

Ali is at dua.com to find his love of life but he can make the app a better place also for others in his community by taking place in daily and weekly campaigns, answering questions, reporting fake profiles, inviting other friends to do so, or inviting other users to verify their profiles. All these actions represent positive behavior and are translated into reputation points in the app. Ali’s off- and on-chain reputation is displayed in his wallet. The fact that he has completed most of his actions allows him to be eligible for $DUA rewards. Rewards can be claimed directly within the wallet. Now Ali can spend a certain amount of $DUA in different ways in the app.

What can Ali do with his $DUA?

📲 → Spend tokens to unlock premium subscription.

💌 → Spend tokens for single premium features.

💰 → Lock and stake tokens in the wallet for returns.

🎁 → Send tokens as a gift to his brother in Morroco.

dua Biz

Biz is the next app mode focused on professional relationships. Imagine Linkedin but with a higher personal touch on relationships and a special focus on ethnic communities. Biz target groups are the following:

  • People who are looking to find a job
  • People who are not actively looking for a job but are open to side gigs
  • Freelancers who are looking for the next contract
  • Companies that are looking to match with potential candidates
  • People looking to find an event, a conference either online or offline

The focus on ethnic communities is what makes this mode completely different from other solutions in the market. We wish to support people who traditionally have not had it easy relocating and integrating into another country. On the other side, imagine you are an SME looking for employees but it has become hard to find qualified workers or talents. Biz allows you to find what you are looking for without losing focus.

dua Biz is set to launch soon. It's important to acknowledge that all users can switch to all modes easily or completely turn off any modes they are not interested in. Anyone with a special interest in dua Biz is not necessarily required to use dua Love or Friends.

$DUA and the wallet shall play an important role for dua Biz. Imagine Aiyla, originally from Turkey and an international Master's student in Munich. She is looking to find her next part-time internship in Digital Marketing but is not quite fluent in German. She downloads dua.com and activates only the dua Biz mode. She enrolls in the Turkish Community to see what her Turkish peers in Munich or other German cities with similar experiences have to say. Maybe they know something that will help her in her journey.

To make her user experience as easy and safe as possible, Ella can set a set of rules like, for example, what she is looking for and, what job she would like to find, who can contact her. She also needs to be verified to use the services. Because she has some social media skills, she finds this small startup in Munich looking for a social media manager. Companies like this that benefit from getting applications are required to use the dua wallet and $DUA to pay a subscription fee for the services they get from dua.com. In this case, Aiyla is not required to pay for the matchmaking service, but if the employment is finalized, Aiyla can process her project payments through the dua wallet. The incoming and outgoing payments will require transaction fees in $DUA, both from Aiyla and the hiring company.

How is $DUA used by companies?

📲 → Required to get access to premium services in the specific area of operation

💲→ Required as transactions fees for wallet payments

🙋🏻‍♀️ → Required to get access to candidates’ requests.

How are $DUA and wallet used by users like Aiyla?

🎟️ → Required to pay for event and conference tickets

💸 → Required for platform payments when dealing with employers.

dua Friends

dua Friends is the third app mode focused on friendship. It’s not just another social network. It's an app mode built on the principle of generating the best output from your existing or new real-life friendships.

Friends is launching soon and, like the other modes, it focuses on ethnic communities, but this time with deep dive into high schools, universities, clubs, conferences and concerts. For more, you need to wait a few more months ;)

Nevertheless, here is a summary of the $DUA use cases within dua Friends.

📲 → Pay for premium

📈 → Lock & Stake for virality

🎁 → Share a gift

🧾 → Split a bill
